Help running XOOPS on web
I'm a relative computer newb, but I'm not dumb.
My band is in need of an updated website, and I want to set up a test site web
So far I've uploaded all necessary files, but I've noticed XOOPSCube (Package_Legacy_2_2_0_20090628_2) does not have an index.html file in the root directory.
Also, I don't know if I will need to install the other required programs, or has this already been done?
Alsso, could this be completed on a network connected virtual machine?
Thanks in advance,
Bill

Re: Help running XOOPS on web
Hi,

You need a shared-hosting account with
PHP v.5
MySQL v.4.+(v.5 recommended)
That's why you see "index.php" and no "index.html"

A provider with CPanel is recommended to
easily manage your site-domain, databases
files, permissions, etc.

just start with installer wizard or read instructions
to install Package Legacy.

Have Fun

Re: Help running XOOPS on web
I'm not sure what you mean about a provider with CPanel.
As of now, It's going to be a virtual machine on my current PC.
so instead of a domain, you'd navigate to it by IP.
(like how Darkside RG works)
Also, i've heard a bit about cgi servers (I've dabbled in HTML coding before), used to submit forms.
Will I need to find one, or will XOOPS have it built in. And if I have to find one, will it be free or cost, or can I run my own?
Thanks again,
Bill

Re: Help running XOOPS on web
You can start testing locally by running a WAMP server
(Windows, Apache, MySQL, PHP)

A click-and-go solution to test XOOPS Cube Legacy :
>> Xoopserver 5

Another local server for Linux, Mac and windows :
>> Xampp

Have Fun
